Open Studio

I am very excited to to tell you that I am taking part in the Portobello Art Walk all by myself and in my own studio space for the first time ever this year.

Porty Art Walk 2025

I will be Art House 44, at 34 Eastfield, EH15 2PN.

Opening times are:
10-6 Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th Sept
10-6 Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th Sept.

Please come and visit! There will be teas and coffees, willow chat, all the tools and basketry workshop set up to explore (I'm sure I won't get all the tidying up done, so I hope the glory of the workshop is interesting!), a beautiful palette of willows to smell and admire,  willow growing info, basketry books, baskets to have a go on, and hopefully a team of willow enthusiasts to initiate you into the wonders of willow.

Here are the extra scheduled events that I will have on:

Both weekends, 2pm each day:
Anna will demonstrate a garlic basket and there will be a join in basketry session helping to create a large willow basket together. Free, no need to book.

Both Saturdays, 1.30pm & 1.45pm:
Cycling Without Age offer cargo trike rides along Seaview Terrace to Eastfield Venue 44 (that's me!) from Joppa Band-stand. 8 spaces total each day, first come first served.

Sun 14 September, 3.30pm:
Portobello Community Choir invite you to join them in learning and singing Weave the Willow, a basket making work song written by Jane Lewis that weaves in many basketry terms.

This year the Art Walk is divided into 4 separate walking routes, and I am part of route 4.

I am also open by appointment in between (8-12 Sept), so you can get in touch if you are unable to come on the weekends but would still be interested in seeing the workshop - it will be a working space as well of course in this time and none of the extra events will be on offer but you are welcome to pop in by arrangement. There is a whole programme of events running alongside the Art Houses programme, please visit https://www.artwalkporty.co.uk/art-walk-porty-festival/ to find out more.

I also still have some slots for helping out to hopefully fill on the first weekend especially so if you fancy help with weaving activities or teas and coffees, please let me know and I will feed you soup and gratitude!!
